Agastache foeniculum
Insect-friendly scented nettle with an intense aniseed flavor and fragrance.
Anise hyssop is a long-flowering perennial. With its nettle leaves and purple-blue flower candles, it makes an eye-catching addition to any flower bed or herb garden. The prairie plant is native to North America and Canada. Butterflies, bees and bumblebees in particular are attracted to its nectar-rich, aniseed and mint-scented flowers. The leaves and flowers can be used for teas, cold drinks or as a spice for desserts and salads. The taste of anise hyssop is a mixture of aniseed, fennel, licorice and mint. In naturopathy, the plant is used for its anti-inflammatory and digestive properties.
